KEY INFORMATION DOCUMENTS
(KID)

Why KID Compliance Matters

Since April 2020, all umbrella companies and employment businesses must provide a Key Information Document (KID) to every contractor. A compliant KID sets out costs, how pay is calculated, and any deductions helping contractors compare service providers and protecting your agency from regulatory scrutiny.

APPROACH

Initial Gap Analysis

  • We review existing KIDs or agency literature to pinpoint gaps: missing fee breakdowns, unclear wording, poor layout.

2

KID Drafting & Design

  • We write clear, jargon-free sections: fee structure, statutory deductions, holiday accrual, umbrella margin, pension contributions.

  • We ensure the KID uses prescribed terminology and follows UK legislation.

3

Client & Contractor Journey

  • We create a KID delivery plan automating distribution (email or portal) so every contractor sees a compliant KID before the terms have been agreed.

  • We design a “Frequently Asked Questions” addendum, helping contractors understand pay logic and avoiding confusion.

4

Ongoing Updates & Version Control

  • We implement a review schedule to update KIDs if rates, fees, or regulations change.

  • We archive previous versions for audit trail and HMRC/Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate (EAS) queries.
